Join the NextArchive Global marketplace for repair services
Are you a service engineer with hands-on experience repairing and maintaining legacy video or audio equipment?
Or perhaps a former Broadcast or Post-production engineer with extensive expertise in tape-based and now-obsolete formats?
Then this is your opportunity to join a global preservation effort, whether you're looking to grow your business, earn additional income on the side, or contribute your expertise voluntarily.
A Unique Challenge
Use case 1:
Across the world, Archives, Broadcasters and Service Providers actively working on safeguarding their magnetic tape collections are facing the same problem: their machines need repair, and finding skilled engineers - or parts - to fix them is increasingly challenging.
Use case 2:
Broadcasters or Memory Institutions have retired machines that have been sitting idle in storage for decades, their condition often unknown. Yet these machines can still serve a vital purpose: once revitalized, they can be used to play large volumes of content to be digitally archived.
In many regions, especially across Africa and parts of the Global South, purchasing and importing replacement machines is not only costly, it's often unfeasible due to shipping cost, taxes, and availability. That's why the most sustainable and effective solution is to revitalize the existing equipment already on-site, wherever possible.
A Global Opportunity
Building a Network
NextArchive is building an international repair platform, and we're inviting independent technicians, retired experts, and specialized service providers to join our global network.
Remote Expertise
Rather than replacing machines, or shipping them around the globe, we aim to support local (junior) engineers and Broadcasters directly, offering remote expertise, mentoring, and diagnostics through our network.
Knowledge Transfer
By transferring knowledge and building local repair capacity, we empower Institutions to take control of their preservation efforts, making digitization more accessible, more affordable, and more resilient for the future.
Who can join the Network?
We welcome a wide range of professionals to the NextArchive Repair Network, from experienced field engineers to retired specialists and small-scale repair businesses. If you have hands-on experience with analog or digital audiovisual equipment, there's a place for you here. We're especially looking for:
  • Independent AV service engineers
  • Technicians with experience in VTR's such as 2-inch AMPEX, or 1-Inch B-format, U-matic, Betacam, VHS, TBCs, or reel-to-reel audio reproducers, e.g., Studer or Tascam.
  • Retired engineers looking to stay active or mentor others
  • Repair shop owners who can handle hardware at their own facilities
  • Former Broadcast or Archive tech staff with niche format knowledge
  • Multilingual technicians who can support local clients
  • Professionals open to providing both remote support and physical repairs via hardware drop-off or shipping
Whether you want to offer remote diagnostics, host repairs in your workshop, or train the next generation, your skills are needed.
As a NextArchive partner, you'll:
Be matched with local clients for on-site work or in-workshop repairs
Receive direct referrals for remote repairs and consulting
Work with Institutions from around the world, on your own and flexible terms
Get paid for your time, hourly or per session, or per project
Grow your visibility with ratings, reviews, and repeat business
